About Dr. Jack Bartel | LGBTQ+ Psychologist Available in 35+ States
Hi, I’m Jack (He/Him), a licensed clinical psychologist, LGBTQ+ health educator, and consultant. I founded The Evergreen Initiative to provide gender-affirming, evidence-based care to the LGBTQ+ community — and to help health systems and organizations do better, too.
My work is twofold:
I offer clinical services like therapy, support letters, and behavior change counseling.
I also lead educational trainings for healthcare professionals, clinics, and organizations who want to create truly inclusive care environments.
Education
B.S. University of Central Florida (UCF)
Psy.D. Florida Tech
Pre-doctoral APA accredited internship, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, FL
Post-doctoral fellowship in medical psychology, Orlando VA
During my training, I witnessed firsthand the serious lack of LGBTQ+ education in medical and mental health spaces. I saw how hard it was for trans and queer people to find care that was truly affirming — not just “tolerant.”
That gap inspired me to act.
Now, I offer a wide range of LGBTQ+ trainings, seminars, and consults. I’m passionate about helping providers grow their allyship and understand that affirming care isn’t optional — it’s necessary.
Affiliations
American Psychological Association (APA)
Florida Psychological Association (FPA) – Early Career Chair
National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology
World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH)
I’m proud to be part of both state and national leadership working to expand access to LGBTQ+ mental health services.
Personal Life
Outside of work, I’m an animal lover (ask me about Spaghettio, Moose, and Harlow). I find healing in movement — cycling, yoga, strength training — and joy in travel, theater, and documentaries. I’m also a proud Disney nerd and Parks and Rec fan.
If you’re looking for gender-affirming care, LGBTQ+ therapy, or inclusive health education, I’d love to hear from you.
